An ad for the Shirley Temple film "Bright Eyes" appeared in the November 28, 1934 issue of The Film Daily.  

Part of the ad copy utilized a condensed, hand lettered style made with a round nib pen.  This inspired Penlettered Note JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.
