In the 1960 sales booklet for Ralph Watkins Metalcraft is a series of alphabets to choose from for custom-made metal exterior signage. 

One design stood out - an eccentric version of classic thick-and-thin Art Deco lettering.  Possibly designed years before (as Ralph Watkins Metalcraft was a long-established Chicago sign company), the uniqueness of this type design inspired Precast Sign JNL - which is available in both regular and oblique versions.
