Sometimes inspiration for font designs can come from the strangest sources.

An early-1960s Canadian magazine ad for a brand of birth control pills featured the least likely spokesperson – Annette Funicello ('starring in 'Beach Blanket Bingo' and 'How to Stuff A Wild Bikini'). The text was hand lettered in an Art Deco-inspired sans serif type design.
